The Metaverse is a creation by Facebook’s founder Mark Zuckerberg. The Metaverse is an alternate digital universe where people can interact in a variety of ways. Zuckerberg claims, “mankind will migrate into the metaverse leaving reality behind for a world that “we created and govern entirely.” Zuckerberg believes there will come a moment when virtual worlds will be so absorbing and handy that we will not want to leave, at which point the metaverse will emerge.
Think NFTs and Cryptocurrency both of which have tanked significantly in value recently. The individual that purchased Jack Dorsey’s first tweet on Twitter as an NFT paid 2.9 million. The buyer recently listed the NFT for sale at 48 million dollars. There were six offers ranging from $6 to $277. If you’ve been watching the news lately you know that Cryptocurrency just took a hit it may never recover from.
Back to the Metaverse and Real Estate. Real Estate is being offered in the Metaverse as parcels of land in virtual worlds. Simply, they are pixels that are more than digital images. They are programmable spaces in virtual reality platforms where people can socialize, play games, sell NFTs, attend meetings, go to concerts, and do countless other virtual activities.
Digital real estate is expected to grow and expand. Curiously there was a real estate boom in the Metaverse in the last quarter of 2021 after Zuckerberg changed Facebook’s name to Meta and indicated a focused interest in the Metaverse.
